Poondu Rasam Recipe

Ingredients

  • Oil – 2 TableSpoon
  • Red Chilies – 4-5
  • Bengal Gram – 2 TableSpoon
  • Coriander Seeds – 2 TeaSpoon
  • Black Pepper Corns – 1 TeaSpoon
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 TeaSpoon
  • Curry Leaves – a few
  • Oil – 2 TeaSpoon
  • Garlic Flakes, peeled – 25-30
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ TeaSpoon
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 TeaSpoon
  • Water – 4-5 cups
  • Tamarind Paste – 2 TableSpoon
  • Fresh Coriander, chopped – 2 TableSpoon
  • Salt – 1 TeaSpoon

Preparation Method

    Preparation Time - 15 minutes + draining | Cooking Time - 16 minutes

    Microwave Setting - 85%, Crisp / Bake Mode

  1. In a small dish, mix all the ingredients for the rasam powder. Cook in the CRISP mode for 3 minutes. Cool and grind.
  2. In a deep dish combine the oil with the garlic, mustard seeds and turmeric and temper using the CRISP mode for 3 minutes.
  3. Add all the ingredients into the tempering. Stir well and cook in the MICROWAVE mode for 5 minutes at 850W.
  4. Add the chopped coriander along with the rasam powder into the rasam and cook for 5 minutes continuing in the MICROWAVE mode for 5 minutes at 850W.
